The Muny is a professional theatre that produces many different musicals with a diversity of styles and subjects, written during various periods. Classics from the Golden Age (My Fair Lady, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma!), generational classics (Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Misérables), family favorites (Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan) and musicals fresh from Broadway (Hairspray, Legally Blonde) are all featured at The Muny.
When The Muny produces a show, we acquire the rights to do so from a licensing house that represents the show's writers, and they give us an official script and music. Changes to these are generally not allowed. Because of this, and the variety of work we do, our productions can vary in appropriateness for age groups.
The Muny is proud of its tradition as a family experience. We're also aware that different parents have different standards for what they feel is appropriate for their children, and that very often, when it comes to language and subject matter, one size doesn't fit all.
So to help parents (and others) we’ve developed the Show Guidelines you'll find on the following pages. We believe these will give you the information you need to decide if a particular show is appropriate for you and your children. We want to provide you with everything we can to help you make the right decision for you and your family and friends to "meet us at The Muny."
See you this summer!
PLEASE NOTE: Guidelines list any language, violence, drug/alcohol use and mature content of each show.
