Muny Announces Michael Baxter as Artistic Associate

The Muny announced today the appointment of Michael Baxter as Artistic Associate. Baxter will work with Muny Artistic Director and Executive Producer, Mike Isaacson, supporting and managing all areas of the Muny’s production process, working with each show’s artistic team and The Muny’s administrative staff.

“For the past seven years, Michael has done extraordinary work at The Muny, including his work as resident choreographer, a position created for him and one that has grown to be essential to our success,” said Isaacson. “He’s a fantastic collaborator, and he’s dedicated to great work and helping artists find their way to that work. I’m excited to now welcome his artistic voice and talents to a bigger role in creating our Muny magic,” said Isaacson.

“We’re incredibly excited to add Michael to our full-time team,” said Muny President and CEO Denny Reagan. “He has been a part of The Muny family on both sides of the stage for a long time, and he brings a wealth of experience with him that will certainly enhance our creative process.”

“I am so proud to be a part of this indelible institution as it embarks on its second century,” said Muny Artistic Associate Michael Baxter. “I honor the people who forged this path before me and am humbled by the invitation to be here now. I love the Muny audience and I’m so fortunate to be able to create for them.”

Michael Baxter has been a valued member of The Muny’s Artistic Team since 2012. Becoming The Muny’s Resident Choreographer in 2015, Baxter has overseen the creative expansion of the Muny Teen Program and has collaborated with creative teams on over 40 mainstage productions. He has had a varied career as a performer, director and choreographer, with his work having been seen both Off-Broadway and regionally. Recent collaborations include associate work with award-winning directors and choreographers Marica Milgrom Dodge, Gordon Greenberg, Dan Knechtges and Jessica Hartman. In addition to his theatrical career, Baxter has served as a guest faculty member at various acclaimed arts institutions across the nation.
