Seven Fun Facts About The 2022 Season
- CHICAGO – This is the first show to close one season and open the next since the ’85 and ’86 season, which was 42ND STREET.
- CAMELOT – All the classic songs with an exciting new book by David Lee, known for WINGS and FRASIER. The original version was performed at The Muny over a decade ago.
- DISNEY & CAMERON MACKINTOSH’S MARY POPPINS – Besides currently running in London’s West End, we will be the only other professional regional production in the world.
- SWEENEY TODD, THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET – We are the only theatre in the world doing the original orchestrations for the show, which includes 26 pieces in the orchestra pit.
- LEGALLY BLONDE, THE MUSICAL – The two lovable dogs in the show, Bruiser and Rufus, have been trained by Animal Expert and Tony Award-winner Bill Berloni. He is Broadway’s go to guy for animal actors (including dogs, cats, farm animals, reptiles, and even insects!), along with TV and Film. He primarily uses animals rescued from shelters. The first-time Bill worked on “Legally Blonde, The Musical,” was with Muny’s own Broadway Producer Mike Isaacson. They sat down in St. Louis for lunch, to discuss Mike’s next Broadway production. Berloni recounts this lunch in his book Broadway Tails. Click for more on Bill Berloni.
- THE COLOR PURPLE – The creative team for the Muny’s production created a multi-winning Joseph Jefferson Award production in Chicago production in 2020, including Best Director. Here is a brief interview with Lili Anne Brown from the Drury Lane Theatre production.
- JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT – 2022 marks the 40th Anniversary of the shows Broadway debut in 1982. This production will be complete with the ever popular Mega Mix at the end of the production, a perfect celebratory grand finale to the season.
