Accessibility Dreams Come True at The Muny

More than 140 guests joined us June 26 at the Culver Pavilion for One Night Only, a fundraiser in support of accessibility efforts at The Muny. After drinks, hors d’oeuvres and brief remarks, guests enjoyed exclusive access to our final rehearsal for Dreamgirls! Thanks to co-chairs Cheree Berry and Brooke Ray and our incredible host committee (pictured), this debut event raised $60,000, which allowed us to implement real-time closed captioning services, accessible at no charge to patrons via the free GalaPro smartphone app.

Accessibility is at the core of our work at The Muny, and during the 2024 season, we were thrilled to debut another vital service for patrons: live closed captioning.

Real-time closed captioning services are available at no charge during Monday and Saturday performances, using the free GalaPro smartphone app.

“We’re committed to making the magic of live theatre accessible to everyone in our community,” says Lindsey R. Galanti, director of audience experience at The Muny. “The addition of live captioning services for our patrons with hearing limitations is an important step in ensuring that every guest can fully experience the stories that come to life on our stage.”

Other Muny services that help to eliminate barriers include wheelchair assistance, accessible parking and seating, ASL interpretation, audio description and assistive listening devices.

Real-time GalaPro captioning is available for Monday and Saturday performances at The Muny.

We’re grateful to our donors for helping to make Muny magic accessible to all. To learn more about the accessibility services we offer at The Muny, visit muny.org/accessibility.
