Muny Officials Announce Updated Security and Entry Procedures for 2018 Summer Season

ST. LOUIS (June 6, 2018) – In preparation for the June 11 opening of the 2018 summer season, Muny officials announced today updates to their entry procedures. These updates are designed to maintain the enjoyable and safe environment Muny goers are accustomed to, providing the same enjoyable guest access patrons are familiar with.

As has been the case for several seasons, all bags, purses and backpacks will be checked for prohibited items before entering the perimeter. In addition, staff will now utilize handheld metal detectors (wands) at all security checkpoints as part of the bag-check and pre-entry screening processes. Visit https://muny.org/faq/ for a list of prohibited items.

New in 2018, The Muny’s secure perimeter has been extended and now includes the lower east and west pre-show picnic lawns, The Culver Pavilion and Lichtenstein Plaza located behind the free seats. Security checkpoints for the lower picnic areas will open at 5:00 p.m. The pre-show plaza behind the free seats will open at 6 p.m. Until that time, free seat guests arriving early may line-up outside of the perimeter at the designated access points. Opening times for theatre seating areas remain the same as previous years. The free seats open at 7:00 p.m. nightly and guests with valid paid tickets can enter beginning at 7:30 p.m.

“We’re excited to welcome thousands of theatre goers to The Muny for our 100th season,” said Muny Marketing and Communications Director, Kwofe Coleman. “Relying on constant research and professional consultants, we continue to evolve our policies and procedures to make sure we are providing a safe environment without greatly affecting the open, enjoyable experience our guests love about The Muny.”
