SSM Health Partners With The Muny to Improve Infant Care, First-Aid Suites
ST. LOUIS — A new naming-rights partnership with SSM Health and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital will enhance The Muny’s inclusive patron experience with improvements to infant care and first-aid suites at the theatre.
The SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Infant Care Suite is a dedicated space where nursing mothers and parents can pump or feed while at The Muny. It also serves as a space where caregivers can comfort young children who need a break during the performance.
Inside the suite are comfy gliders for nursing, a changing station, a vanity sink and a refrigerator where perishable baby needs can be stored for the evening. The Muny introduced the space in 2021.
The SSM Health First-Aid Suite makes it possible for all Muny patrons to have a safe experience while at the theatre. The space is staffed by a nurse at every performance who can tend to basic medical needs.
“SSM Health’s partnership with The Muny is an exciting collaboration for our region. The Muny is a longstanding St. Louis tradition for audiences of all ages, and this partnership allows us to continue providing exceptional care to our community,” said Jeremy Fotheringham, SSM Health’s Regional President for St. Louis and Southern Illinois. “By elevating these care suites, we are demonstrating our commitment to making sure health care services are accessible for anyone in need. We look forward to these spaces being utilized to their fullest capacity.”
Both indoor, air-conditioned suites are located along the theatre’s west pergola, adjacent to Purina Plaza. An audio feed is provided so patrons can keep up with the action onstage while visiting the spaces. Muny patrons who need assistance with accessing the suites can alert an usher; there is no charge to use the facilities.
The agreement with SSM Health and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital enables significant upgrades to make the spaces more inviting and comfortable for Muny guests.
“We are excited to begin this partnership with another St. Louis-founded organization as we continue our efforts to make our campus accessible to all theatregoers,” said Muny President & CEO Kwofe Coleman. “The health and safety of our patrons is our No. 1 priority, and this meaningful community alignment with SSM Health and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital will allow us to look after the well-being of all members of the Muny family.”
Personalized strategic partnerships with corporate and civic partners help to underwrite basic Muny production costs, offset operational expenses, fund educational programs, support outreach efforts into underserved St. Louis communities and ensure our theatre’s existence for generations to come.
Since its inception, The Muny has been committed to making live theatre accessible to all, regardless of physical or socioeconomic ability. Unique free services — first aid, infant care, wheelchair attendants, interpretive services and more — give all patrons the opportunity to experience every production without barriers.
New Muny season tickets are on sale now at muny.org and at the Muny box office in Forest Park. Single tickets go on sale May 20.
