Stephanie Schnuck Has Loved The Muny Since Childhood — Now She Helps Make the Magic
Stephanie Schnuck is a Muny board member, subscriber and Muny Guarantor. In addition, this past summer, she was one of a handful of sponsors who helped bring concerts back to The Muny.
Stephanie’s dad first introduced her to The Muny when she was a little girl. She says sharing theatre under the stars with her own (now grown) daughters feels like a great tribute to her late parents’ commitment to Muny magic.
Q • Why do you love The Muny?
A • The Muny’s sense of community is like nothing else in the world, and I love that everyone is welcome to experience it; the free seats are so necessary to our community. Plus, the dedication and sense of pride from the Muny staff is just incredible.
Q • Why do you choose to be a Muny Guarantor?
A • Who wouldn’t?! The Muny brings joy to so many people. It’s what I have done on Monday nights in the summer since I was a little girl. Now that I understand more about what it takes to create a show, it just adds so much more meaning.
Q • Do you have any favorite Muny memories?
A • There are so many. However, bringing my oldest daughter the very first time and having the realization that it was the beginning of three generations at this amazing place has got to be my most favorite.
Q • Why was supporting the John Legend concert on Sept. 7 so important to you?
A • Wow — what a night! The Muny is such a unique concert venue. There’s nothing like it! I have so many fond concert memories — my favorite was definitely Bruce Hornsby in 1988. I was very excited to help bring them back so another generation of concertgoers would have this incredible opportunity.
Q • What is your favorite Muny show?
A • A Chorus Line. I came to this one at a very young age and was just wowed. As I got older and began to understand the stories each character was telling, I realized how important it was for these stories to be told.
Q • What is your favorite Muny treat?
A • Lemon ice at intermission, for sure, but my personal tradition is that I have to get my drink in a souvenir cup. You would think I would have enough by now, right? But I can’t help it. I have soooo many in my house!
