Shoppers browse props, costumes and other merchandise on the backlot at the Muny Garage Sale in 2016.

For the first time since 2016, the Muny Garage Sale is back by popular demand — and the public is invited to take home a treasure from America’s oldest and largest outdoor musical theatre.

The sale runs 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, on the Muny backlot.

More than 5,000 items will be available, including good-quality pants, shorts, skirts, shirts, shoes, dance shoes, props, scenic pieces, and Muny promotional materials such as banners and programs.

“We’ve gone through our two prop warehouses and cleaned out anything that we won’t use again, so there’s no reason to store it,” said Muny Director of Production Tracy Utzmyers. “There are random props like tables, desks, chairs, palm trees, some tent roofing — there’s a ton of weird stuff.”

Some one-of-a-kind items will be tagged with information about how they were used on the Muny stage.

Shoppers wait in line to enter the Muny Garage Sale in 2016, which attracted about 1,200 customers.

“If you’re looking for a Halloween costume, you can get something pretty cheap,” Utzmyers said. “Prices are really low because we’re just trying to share these things with the community. Most items will be priced between $1 and $5.”

Shoppers should enter through the Backstage Gate, under the East Pergola. Backstage capacity will be limited to 250 customers at a time. No early shopping will be allowed, and items must be taken at the time of purchase. Payments will be accepted by cash, credit card or check.

The Hot Cider Hustle 5K and 10K are also scheduled the morning of Oct. 25 in Forest Park, so arrival before 9 a.m. is discouraged.
