In 1918, St. Louis Mayor Henry Kiel was the first champion for producing musicals in Forest Park “on a grander scale than they have ever been seen” for “anyone who desires to attend.”
Mayor Kiel believed in this idea so much that he went from door to door asking for help to make this theatre a reality. The mayor called those early supporters “Guarantors,” as they were “guaranteeing” this incredible dream for our entire community.
